My mom and Sloop were waiting for us when we got home on Saturday afternoon. She brought Sloop out to the parking lot and from the moment Fosse saw Sloop she wanted to go to her and meet her. Sloop felt the same way. After a few minutes of sniffing and tail wagging, we took them both inside ( I always like to think of it as Sloop inviting her guest in!). They got along well from the first moment they met. Of course my mom thought she was adorable :-) And she thinks she's "the one" for Sloop!
I gave her a bath Saturday evening. She probably needs another one to remove any remaining smell but she was already pretty traumatized from the first one. She slept really well in her crate that night and continues to sleep in her crate at night with the door open.
She didn't poop for the first 2 days I had her. I think she was too stressed. When she finally did, it was in my living room overnight and she sat downstairs next to her mistake and looked absolutely terrified that I might do something to her. She has had a few accidents in the house since then. She seems uncomfortable doing it on walks and I haven't seen her do it at the dog park. She also seems to piddle a lot. She has piddled in the house but they are small piddles. On walks she piddles 3 - 4 times. Sloop has incontinence issues and is on Proin...not sure if Fosse has the same issue.
Sloop has only corrected her (verbally - because who knows what goes on non-verbally) once and that was when I was petting Sloop and Fosse tried to climb on her (I wondered if that was because Fosse was attempting try her luck at dominating?!? Unsuccessful attempt).
She follows Sloop around everywhere. She is happiest when they are together. She also keeps a close eye on me. She seems interested in getting attention but when I try she pulls back. I sometimes feel we've made progress only to find that later on she regresses. For example, she took treats from my hand yesterday but this morning she ran off when I offered her some. I ended up putting them on the stairwell and I heard her munching on them:-) I think she has put on a bit of weight.
Yesterday, when I came home from work, she actually greeted me with a tail wag and let me pet her...I was pretty excited about that! I also took her on a walk by herself and she did very well. She's always checking in with me to make sure things are ok.
I think her ideal home would be with another dog and a fenced in yard since she really loves to be outside. Sometimes she seems more anxious and worried inside the house.
